PineMelon: the Farmers Market Delivered

Dear neighbor, If you’ve used PineMelon before, you might think our mission is to support local business or to prioritize healthy food delivery. These are certainly part of our mission, but I want to share the deeper ambitions that drive us, because I think there are so many of us that share the same values. When you turn on the news, it’s easy for stories of climate change, growing carbon emissions, and collapsing supply chains to place you in a hopeless state. We’re also living in a time of incredible technological advances. Brilliant minds are right now targeting ways for us to inhabit other planets. Maybe it’s the optimist in me, but if we can inhabit other planets, we can use technology to fix Earth’s problems. PineMelon started because we see the biggest opportunity for impact in our food system. It’s an often overlooked subject, but soil scientists say before we make meaningful impacts through electric vehicles, we first need to look at the soil. Healthy soil stores vast amounts of carbon, but commercial agriculture is stripping our soil of nutrients, microbial life, and most importantly, the carbon it stores. It’s a complex situation that we’ll need to get into later, but ultimately there is a solution, regenerative agriculture. The problem is that regenerative farms make up about 1.5% of total US farmland, and in today’s system, the majority go out of business within their first five years. They don’t have the market demand or infrastructure to successfully deliver their food to the people that want it. PineMelon’s mission is to change that. We’re here to prioritize regenerative agriculture, market it, and deliver it to likeminded souls that believe in its impact. We’re working to build a sustaining community of local food providers. A community where when one regenerative farm reaches capacity, another will step in. Where when one local bakery succeeds, another can grow. If we can all come together to make our Denver community thrive, then we know other communities can do this too. We’re here to disrupt the current system. Our ultimate goal is to create a platform that allows the community to effortlessly eat local. This will directly increase the number and influence of local food producers within the food system. Right now, local foods constitute a negligible share of total consumption. We aim to elevate this to a level where it makes a meaningful impact to the local economy and significantly strengthens the community. So, what can you expect from us? Transparency on where your food comes from and its impact on our planet. Food that tastes better and is nutrient rich. Food that is ready for delivery the day it leaves the farm. Knowing that your money is helping local food producers through minimal margins. A like-minded community coming together to act local. And that's our mission, to Act Like Ur Local.
